This traditional food market dates back to the early 19th Century when King Jose 1 demolished houses and a church to create the square. The present market hall,constructed of iron and glass, was built in 1915. Here you will find freshly caught fish, meat, sausages and cheese, as well as a wide range of fresh vegetables and fruit. There is also a small cafe.
