The walls surrounding Montblanc date from the middle of the 14th Century when they were commissioned by the king of Aragon. They had a perimeter of almost a mile with thirty towers and four doors. Over half the original walls are still standing and the Sant Jordi Tower Porch with its three floors is still in good condition. It marks the spot where St George is said to have killed the dragon.
