Serra de Tramuntana

The Serra de Tramuntana is Mallorca`s most spectacular landscape and the mountain range stretches for over fifty miles from Andratx to Pollenca. These are the mountains of the north wind, sheltering the plain. The lower slopes are covered in pine whilst the tops are bare crags. The highest peaks are Puig Major (4740ft) and Puig Massarela (4435ft). The area is best explored on foot and maps showing routes are available. Extreme care must be taken if you choose to drive - one of the most dramatic stretches is from Soller to Lluc, passing through gorges and tunnels.
