The Templar Chapel is in the Gothic and Renaissance style although it was remodelled in the late 19th Century. The nave is in three parts and has ribbed vaulting whilst the columns of the side chapels are decorated with geometric and plant motifs. The Knights Templar were a military order that supported the Crusades but it was disbanded by the pope in 1312. The Palma base passed to the Hospitallers of St John and survived until the early 19th Century.
