Dedicated to the gods Ammon and Isis, the Temple of Debod was once situated on the shores of the Nile. It was donated to Spain in gratitude for the help in rescuing monuments threatened by floods as a result of building the Aswan High Dam on the River Nile. The temple dates back to 2000BC, when it was a place of pilgrimage. On the walls are carvings depicting the Egyptian gods. Now located in the Cuartel de la Montana Park, the sanctuary is open to visitors.
