El Paseo del Malecon is a long esplanade above the River Seguria. It was first built in the 15th Century to protect the land from flooding and was reconstructed in the 18th Century. The esplanade extends for several miles into the countryside, offering splendid views. There are benches for relaxation. Look out for the statue to the philanthropist Jose Maria Munoz. Near the start of the esplanade is the Botanical Garden, a large park.
