The picturesque, small town of Albarracin with its steep streets and castle which dates from Moorish times has been declared a National Monument. There are many interesting buildings. The 16th Century cathedral has a belfry and inside is a Renaissance carved wooden altarpiece while the Diocesan Museum in the Bishop`s Palace holds a collection of Flemish tapestries. Near the main square is a dramatic view of the River Guadalaviar. Some of the old houses have been restored in the medieval style.
