The Alcazar was a great royal residence during the Middle Ages, but by the 19th Century it was a military school. It was destroyed by fire in 1862 and the present Alcazar is a Neo-gothic reconstruction. In the rooms are medieval furniture, paintings and weapons. From the terrace are fine views of the Eresma valley, and if you climb to the top of the keep you will be rewarded with a panorama that extends to the Guadarrama mountains.
