Olives have been grown on Mallorca since they were introduced by the Romans, who called the oil `liquid gold`. Although at one time there were many olive mills on the island, only a few are still working today. Ca`n Det is a working mill and the building dates back to the 16th Century. The traditional millstones and wicker mats are used to extract the oil. Visits must be arranged in advance.
