Castell del Montgri stands high above the town on the heights of the Montgri Massif. The stronghold dates from the late 13th Century and it was never completed. A steep, but short, walk from the town centre leads to the plateau and castle walls, from where you are rewarded with panoramic views of the coastline and mountains. On the massif are caverns where archaeological finds from the Palaeolithic era have been discovered.
