The ruins of Castillo de Osma stand on a steep rock opposite the site of a Roman settlement. Dating from the 10th Century, it was built with material from the Roman town. The fortress was taken in AD 963 by General Galif and after a succession of owners it passed to the Dukes of Uceda y Frias. The water tower is thought to date from the 15th Century and the present wall surrounding the fortress was built about one hundred years later. The castle can be visited and there is free access.
