The Castle of Gormaz was originally built by the Moors in the 10th Century. It was later taken by the Christians who modified the fortress and it was one of the largest in Spain. It is 300 metres long and there are 28 towers. In places it is 60 metres wide. The castle is now in ruins but two 10th century Moorish doorways remain and from the site are magnificent views.
