The Cathedral of San Cristobal de la Laguna has a Neoclassical facade with two towers that date from the early 19th Century. The nave and aisles were remodelled in 1905. There is a magnificent Baroque altarpiece and behind it is the tomb of Alonso Fernandez de Lugo who conquered the island. He died in 1525. In the treasury house are the figures used for the Christmas, Easter and Corpus Christi processions.
