Seville Cathedral is a magnificent Gothic cathedral - one of the largest in the world - and was completed in 1506. It was originally a mosque but was later transformed into a Christian temple. Its famous Giralda tower dominates the city, and has a Giraldillo statue on top. This cathedral covers a greater surface area than any other in the world and is surrounded by 157 chained columns. Inside, Christopher Columbus is buried, and the impressive interior is home to the outstanding Capilla Mayor and copious amounts of gold.
