The Church of Nuestra Senora de Guadeloupe is a splendid, ancient church that has been rebuilt several times. It dates from the mid 16th Century and has three neo-Gothic naves. One of its features is the statue of the Virgin Mary of Guadeloupe. For hundreds of years Teguise was the capital of Lanzarote and this attracted pirates who often set fire to the church.
