The Church of Sant Carles stands in the centre of the beautiful, small village of Sant Carles. The church dates from the 18th Century and has a broad entrance porch with pillars and inside is a single nave and a side chapel. During the Civil War, the curate was executed in obscure circumstances on the arrival of the Republican forces. Some of the hippies who arrived on the island in the 1960s settled near Sant Carles and there are several shops selling local crafts.
