The El Greco House and Museum contains many important works of El Greco, who is thought to have lived in a house similar to this one when he came to live in Toledo in the late 16th Century. Born in Crete in 1541, he trained in Italy and, after coming to Spain, settled in Toledo where he stayed until he died in 1614. Work on display here in the museum includes The View and Plan of Toledo, and a portrait series of Christ and the Apostles. On the ground floor is a chapel with a Mudejar ceiling.
