The Hoces del Riaza Natural Park is an area of limestone gorges and cliffs between Montego de la Vega and the reservoir of Embalse de Linares. There are woods of juniper and in the canyon stands the ruins of the Romanesque Convent of El Casvar. There are about four hundred griffon vultures as well as Egyptian vultures, golden eagles, short-toed eagles and Bonelli`s eagles. The reserve can be visited but visitors must keep to the signposted trail between December and July.
