The Baroque charity hospital was founded in the 17th Century by Miguel de Manara who led a licentious life before joining the brotherhood. He provided the money for the splendid building. Inside the church are original, commissioned paintings, and near the entrance are Valdes Leal`s gruesome masterpieces The End of Earthly Glory and In the Blink of an Eye. There are also several paintings by Murillo, including St John of God caring for a sick man. Manara is buried in the crypt.
