The facade of the House of Shells is decorated by more than 300 shells in the same shade of golden brown. Between them is a beautiful Isabelline window and Gothic grilles. Rodrigo Maldonado, who built the house in the early 16th Century, was a member of the Order of Santiago, whose symbol is the scallop shell. The inner courtyard has mixtilinear arches, which are a common feature in Salamanca, and coats of arms. The building now houses the tourist office.
