Sa Conillera is an uninhabited island lying offshore near Sant Antoni de Portmany. According to legend, it was the birthplace of Hannibal, the famous Carthaginian general who crossed the Alps with elephants to conquer Rome. Boat trips to the island, where there are many flowers and lizards, can be made from Sant Antoni de Portmany. Because of the profusion of sea urchins, it is not recommended for swimming. There is a fine viewpoint of the island from the western headland of Cala Roig.
