La Santiago Church was built in the Romanesque style in the mid 12th Century by Bishop Don Cerebruno. The building has a splendid ornamented facade with the coat of arms of Bishop Don Fadrique de Portugal who may have been responsible for the church`s restoration in the 16th Century. On the tympanum is a Renaissance medallion of the Apostle Santiago. The church was in the possession of the Clarisas Nuns Monastery but, during the 20th Century, they moved to La Alamenta.
