The lovely Parque de Maria Luisa was the garden of the Palacio de San Telmo until the 1890s when it was given to the city. The area was landscaped for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition and the Plaza de Espana with its tiled benches is from then. In the park are pavilions that are now museums, a lake with a gazebo, fountains and a waterfall, statues, flowers and tree lined avenues, all combining to make a pleasant break from the bustle of the city.
