The peak of Monte Igueldo can be reached in a few minutes by taking the funicular railway that starts from near Ondarreta beach. The railway dates from 1912. From the summit of the hill, which can also be reached by road, are panoramic views of San Sebastian, the harbour, Santa Clara Island, the coast and nearby mountains. An amusement park and restaurant are on the top. The tower was once a look-out point.
