Rute is famous for its manufacture of aguardiente de anis which is an extremely potent aniseed flavoured liquer. The drink has been made in the town since the 19th Century and it can be tasted at many bodegas in Rute, while at the Museo del Anis you can discover how it has made throughout history as well as sampling the liquer. Rute also has other attractions including a Baroque church and a ruined castle.
