The small town of Santillana del Mar boasts several nobleman`s mansions with wrought-iron balconies and huge traditional coats of arms. They were built between the 15th and 17th centuries. In the Plaza de Ramon Pelayo is a parador and two medieval towers. The Town Hal dates from the 18th Century. Between here and the church are several impressive residences, including the Casa de los Hombrones with its eagle coat of arms.
