The busy, triangular Plaza de Zocodover is the city`s main square. A weekly, traditional market was held here from the mid 15th Century to the 1960s, but has since been moved. The name comes from the Arabic name `souq al dawad` when the square was a Moorish livestock market at an earlier time. Bullfights and other festivals have taken place in the square, as well as burnings at the stake by the Inquisition. It was rebuilt after the Civil War.
