On Plaza Sarriegui is a monument to Sarriegui, a composer who wrote the San Sebastian March. These drum scores can be heard throughout the streets of San Sebastian during the Tamborrada parade in January which starts at midnight on the 19th of that month. Opposite the square is an underground market and cinema known as La Brecha. Town walls located here were destroyed by the British during the Peninsular War.
