The Praza de la Quintana is an elegant square behind the cathedral. In the cathedral`s east end is the Puerta Santa (Holy Door) which was designed by Fernandez Lechuga in 1611. It is opened only in Holy Years, which are the years when the feast of St James, 25 July, falls on a Sunday. The 17th Century facade contains salvaged Romanesque statues. At the lower end of the square is the former Canon`s House.
