The Royal Palace was built by Isabel after the death of her husband Felipe V. However, it was not occupied until the 19th Century when Alfonso X11 spent much time here. Surrounded by a deer park, the pink palace with its green shutters is not exceptionally large. It is built around a central courtyard and a monumental staircase leads to the royal apartments. In part of the building is a Museum of Hunting illustrating hunting methods since prehistoric times.
