Salines de Llevant are large, salt lakes surrounded by marshes with many footpaths and it is the habitat of many kinds of birds, including marsh harriers, hoopoe and warblers. The best time to visit is the spring when migrants from Africa may be seen such as little stints, avocets, little egret and godwits. The little town of Ses Salines is named after the salt pans from which it owes its origin.
