The Santa Maria la Mayor Church stands on the site of Ronda`s former main mosque. A minaret remains from the 13th Century mosque and inside the church`s entrance is an arch with Arabic inscriptions. The church was built over several centuries and reflects several distinctive styles. The aisles are Gothic whilst the high altar is early Renaissance, and there are Baroque features. A double balcony is on the outside of the church.
