Monestir de Santes Creus was one of the most important Cistercian monasteries to be built in the middle of the 12th Century in this area of Spain. It was founded by Ramon Berenguer 1V during his reconquest of Catalonia. The cloisters are decorated with extremely fine Gothic motifs. You can also see the chapter house and dormitory. The tomb of Jaime 11 and tombs of other royalty are in the church, which has a superb rose window.
