Isla Tabarca is a delightful, small inhabited island a short ferry ride from Santa Pola. The island is one mile long and a quarter mile wide and its clear waters are a designated marine reserve. Diving and snorkelling trips can be arranged. The port has several sea-food restaurants and there are many beaches, most of them shingle, and quiet coves. An 18th Century watchtower stands guard over the island whilst at its western tip s a lighhouse.
