Tamariu is a small resort with a Blue Flag beach which is popular with families. Originally a fishing village, its name is derived from the Tamarind trees that line the promenade. The sheltered, sandy beach faces south and has a gentle slope. There are several restaurants. A path leads to the Cala d`Aigua Dolca, a popular angling spot. Beyond here, the coast has good places for diving with caves to explore as well as the submerged mountain known as Llosa de Cala Nova.
