The Trinitat stands on the point above the lighthouse of Roses. This military building, now in ruins, was built in the 1540s to defend the harbour and it could hold a garrison of two hundred men. The walls were over six feet thick and there were terraces of cannon at different heights. The castle is said to have been blown up by the French in 1814 but the deed is also linked to Lord Cochrane who helped defeat Napoleon`s army.
