Situated near the River Guadalquivir, the elegant Theatre de la Maestranza is Seville`s opera house. Built on the site of a 19th Century ammunition works, it opened in 1991 before the Expo `92. It was designed by architects Aureilo del Pozo and Marin de Teran. It is the home of the Orquestra Sinfonica de Sevilla, and the theatre stages performances by international opera and dance companies.
