The fine Church of Sant Esteve was one of the first churches to be established in Valencia after it was taken from the Arabs by Jaume 1 in 1238. Originally, it was a mosque but no traces remain. The church was remodelled in the baroque style in the 18th Century. Inside, the baptismal font is said to have been used by Sant Vicent the Martyr. It is reputed to give protection from accidents to those baptised here.
