The Convent de San Domingo is a large Gothic building that was founded as a Dominican monastery in the mid 13th Century after the Reconquest. The magnificent chapel was added in the 14th Century. It has a vaulted ceiling and contains the Renaissance tombs of the Marquesses de Cemete. The door overlooking the square is from the 16th Century. Felipe 111 married Margarita of Austria here. It is now the headquarters of the Capitania General de Valencia and visits must be arranged in advance.
