Hercalio Fournier founded a playing card factory in Vitoria - Gasteiz in 1868, and his grandson Felix Alfaro Fournier accumulated a vast collection of playing cards. The present collection comprises cards from many countries, and it is considered to be one of the best in the world. It is housed in a 16th Century building and consists of many thousands of packs. The museum also displays an exhibition of materials used in making playing cards.
