The Hospital de Santiago was built for the Bishop of Jaen in the late 16th Century. It was designed by Andres de Vandelvira and is a grand, well proportioned, late Renaissance building. The former hospital`s facade is crowned by towers. St James is depicted above the entrance and in the patio are marble columns and a fountain. A stairway leads to a gallery with frescoes on the ceiling.
