Zamora is famous for its celebrations that take place during Semana Santa, Easter Week. The Semana Santa has been declared a Fiesta of International Interest. The tradition goes back to the 14th Century and it is the city`s largest fiesta. The procession takes place through the old quarter. In the museum are carved and painted pasos by different artists depicting the Passion of Christ. The elaborate images are paraded through the town during the processions.
