The Museum of Contemporary Art is housed in a late 19th Century building that was originally used as a prison and workhouse. It was designated a building of historical interest in 1990 and a few years later it was converted into a museum. Its original design was retained and there are balconies and four halls surrounding a central point. Temporary exhibitions of Spanish and International art, including paintings and sculpture, are held here. There is also an area with exhibitions by Galician artists.
