The Museum of San Juan de la Cruz is devoted to the 16th Century religious reformer and mystical poet St John of the Cross. He was born in Castilla y Leon in 1542 and was a founder of the monastic order Carmelitos Descalzos who led a more austere life than the mainstream Carmelites. He came to live in Ubeda and in the museum you can see his writings, a reconstructed monk`s cell, some of his relics and the room where he died.
