The Penyagolosa Massif is a spur of the Iberian range. Here you will find the San Joan de Penyagolosa Hermitage which is an important place of pilgrimage for local people. The nature reserve is home to wild cat, wild goat, genet and roe deer. There are several birds of prey including Bonelli`s eagle and eagle owl. The park has several walking routes and the summit, which rises to 1814 metres, can be reached by forest tracks and paths from Xodes. From the peak are magnificent views which stretch as far as the Columbrete Islands.
