The Santuario Virgen de la Pena is a local red sandstone church. It is dedicated to the patron saint of Fuerteventura Island. The statue of the Virgen de la Pena was brought to the island by Jean de Bethencourt. After being lost for about a century, it was found near the village. The Virgin is now kept in the high altar which is in gold and polychrome. Near the side door is a painting of monks finding the statue.
