The small mountain town of Valldemossa is forever linked with the female French writer George Sand who wrote a book entitled A Winter in Mallorca. She stayed here in the 1830s with the composer Chopin. In the former monastery complex you can see the cells they are said to have rented. Other parts of the complex include the neoclassical monastery church, the cloister, prior`s cell, the 17th Century monastery pharmacy and the Palace of King Sancho with its period rooms.
