The Monasterio de Santa de Maria de Valldigna dates from the 13th Century when the king gave permission for the Cistercians to build a monastery here. Three different styles of architecture can be seen in this impressive building which was damaged by earthquakes in 1396 and 1664. The church and the Capilla de la Mare de Deu de Gracia were built in the 17th and 18th centuries. The monastery was abandoned in the mid 19th Century but it has been restored.
