The Victor Balaguer Library Museum was founded in the late 19th Century by Victor Balaguer i Cirera who was a prominent writer and politician. The museum contains his private collection of 40,000 books as well as maps, photogaphs and periodicals. The museum is also home to an exhibition of art from the Phillipines and the Far East. There are 19th and 20th century paintings and sculptures and pieces of decorative art such as Catalan and Valencian ceramics. Other displays include a collection of Roman, Greek and Iberian coins.
