Villajoyosa was a fishing village before it became a popular holiday resort. There are several beaches and the nearest to the town is the Playa de la Vila, whilst the Centro Beach has a promenade. It has full facilities and a playground for children, and people with reduced mobility have easy access. The Playa Paridis with its golden sands is also popular. There are also a number of tranquil small coves.
